The 30-plus member ensemble is expected to perform at Limpos Restaurant in the heart of the tourist capital Livingstone, alongside the famous Makhirikhiri Cultural group.
Now, that will be a mouth-watering bash considering that they will be some cultural exchange involving Congo DR’S Zaiko Langa Langa, Makhirikhiri from Botswana and Zambian artistes. Promoters of the Zamtel-powered shows have also indicated that there will be some Zambian artistes who will provide some ‘Zed-peppered’ music at the arena.
A pleasant Valentine’s Day awaits – Zaika’s Valentine’s menu offers multi-layered chocolate cake for two, so if you’re an old-fashioned, dessert-sharing romantic, you could do a lot worse.
I had expected the dishes to have plenty of heat, teased out in various ways, but this one really bucked the trend; it showed off a side of Indian cooking that you rarely see outside of the home kitchen.
We also devoured a creamy chicken tikka, with accompaniments of baby aubergines, pilau rice, yellow lentils and raita.
For starters we ordered the battered tiger prawns, which came with a cooling tempered yoghurt mixed with paprika and mustard.
The prawns were exquisite, encased in a light crispy batter with the welcome surprise of after-heat.
